Hamayun Immigration Firm is a Canadian immigration consultancy serving clients across all of Canada. Immigration is federal law: the same statute, the same criteria, and the same decision-makers govern a file from Vancouver, Iqaluit, or Halifax. We take a limited number of files so that the person who assesses your matter is the person who prepares it, wherever in Canada you are.

Sofia Hamayun
Sofia Hamayun
Sofia Hamayun is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. She holds the RCIC-IRB designation, which authorises representation before the Immigration and Refugee Board in addition to applications made to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Her practice concentrates on refugee law and family reunification, and within those areas on the applications that turn on narrative and evidence rather than on points: in-land refugee claims, refugee sponsorship, humanitarian and compassionate applications, and spousal sponsorship.
She completed an Honours Bachelor's degree in Human Rights and Equity Studies with a certificate in Refugee and Migration Studies at York University, followed by an Honours postgraduate diploma in Immigration at Humber College. Since 2019 she has appeared before the Immigration and Refugee Board and dealt with the Canada Border Services Agency and IRCC on behalf of clients.
Her interest in refugee law is not academic in origin, and it shapes how the firm runs. Clients are asked to describe what happened to them once, carefully, and are not asked to repeat it unnecessarily. Submissions are written in the first person and read back until the client recognises the account as theirs.

These are operating commitments, not marketing claims. If we do not meet one of them, say so, and we will correct it.
01A free preliminary consultation, then a written assessment
The first conversation costs nothing. Before any application fee is spent, you then receive a written assessment stating the stream we consider available, the criteria that must be met, the evidence needed, the likely difficulties, and a realistic timeline. If we do not think an application can succeed, we say so instead of filing it.
02A retainer that separates our fee from government fees
Professional fees and government fees are set out separately in writing. Government fees are paid to the Government of Canada, not to us. Scope, deliverables, and what happens if the scope changes are all stated before work starts.
03No guarantee of outcome, from anyone
No representative can guarantee that an application will be approved, and any representative who offers such a guarantee is promising something they cannot deliver. What we commit to is that your file will be complete, accurate, filed on time, and argued against the correct test.
04Your file, on request, in a usable form
You are entitled to your own documents. On request we provide a copy of the material in your file in a form you can give to another representative, without conditions attached.
05Confidentiality, including from your own family
Some of what a claim requires is difficult to say in front of relatives. What you tell us is confidential and is not disclosed to a sponsor, a spouse, a parent, or anyone else without your instruction, except where disclosure is required by law.
06Plain answers about time
Processing times are published by the department and change. We tell you the current published figure, what it does and does not include, and what in your particular file is most likely to make it longer.
Practical matters
Working languages
We serve clients in English and Persian, and our written material is published in both. For any other language we arrange a qualified interpreter rather than relying on a family member, which protects both accuracy and your privacy.

Immigration is federal jurisdiction, and we act for clients in every province and territory. Consultations are held by telephone and secure video wherever you are, and in person at Suite 300, 10 Milner Business Court, Scarborough, Ontario M1B 3C6.
How fees work
The preliminary consultation is complimentary. Fees for a retained matter are quoted in a written agreement, with government fees itemised separately so you can see exactly what goes where.
If something goes wrong
Raise it with us first, in writing. If it is not resolved, you may file a complaint with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, which regulates every licensed consultant in Canada.
Ask what a file review would involve.
A first consultation establishes three things: what stream applies, what evidence exists, and whether there is a deadline running. That is usually enough to know whether to proceed, and it costs nothing.
